The widespread environmental historicization and its outstanding heritage determinated, in Italy more than in other countries, a particular type of museology which has been defined as the "internal musuem", or rather the adaption of historic spaces to exhibition spaces.
This represented, and still does, a laborious search for a balance between monumental buildings and new uses, between antique collections and new users. A design study of great interest.
