Giovanni
Tortelli and Roberto Frassoni, the architects of the
Museum of Santa Giulia, moved the first professional steps at
BBPR, collaborating with Lodovico Belgioioso and, subsequently
joined Albini Helg Piva under whose guidance they developed a
nearly craft-like design conscience inspired by a notion of work
in keeping with trade and discipline, thereby escaping the appeal
of trendy architectures.
This approach also reinforces through the participation to
national and international competitions where they score
brilliant results which see them being awarded projects like the
reorganization of the Valle della Pietrosa of Lanciano (1989,
together with Franca Helg), the Waterfront and the Park of Intra
(1990), the renovation of the Loggia dei Mercanti of Genoa
(1991), the Museo Diocesano of Vicenza (2001), the design of the
Piazza della Basilica of Aquileia (2004).
As to museums and exhibition design, besides Brescia and Vicenza,
they also worked at significant projects in Genoa, with the
renovation of the Museo del Tesoro (1996) and at the exhibition
design of temporary shows on occasion of Genoa 2004, European
Capital of Culture (among which LEtà di Rubens and La
Sacra Selva), and in Novara with the renovation of Broletto and
the reorganization of the Giannoni Collection (2005).
